Follow our top tips to keep your clippers in tip top condition!
LUBRICATION
We recommend you oil your clippers every 5 – 10 minutes during clipping and it doesn’t take much oil to oil a blade. Regular oiling will keep your blades running smoothly and stop them from overheating. It is important you always use clipper blade oil as it stays on the blade to prevent friction, other lubricants such as WD40 will evaporate off of the surface and cause the blades to overheat which will destroy the cutting edge.
Start by removing excess hair from your blades and then run the oil along the length of the blade and into the oil holes positioned on the top of the clippers. Oiling every 5 – 10 minutes will seem excessive at first but after time will become a natural and essential part of your clipping routine.
TENSION
Excessive tension will blunt and overheat your blades while insufficient tension will reduce cutting performance and lead to clogged blades.
Listers are one of the easiest clippers to tension. Screw the tension nut until it stops then using the marker on the nut as a guide turn the tension nut back 1.5 turns to set. Your clippers are now ready to use
There is no precise way to tension other makes of clippers. We recommend you screw the tensioning nut in until you feel some resistance and then give it a further half to one turn, the sound of the motor should hum and not sound strained. This may take some tweaking and practice to get right.
.
AIRFLOW
Blocked air filters can cause major problems with your clippers.
If the filters are blocked during clipping the motor cannot draw enough air through to keep them cool. This will result in the clippers seriously overheating and in turn will damage the motor.
To ensure your clippers stay cool keep filters clear of hair and grease by regular cleaning.
We recommend you clean the filter after each clip by brushing off any excessive hair with a brush and washing off grease in warm soapy water, when clean make sure the filter is completely dry before putting back on.
